1978
The history of the Group, from the start-up as Severfield-Reeve - a partnership, in 1978, has been one of continued profitable growth, resulting from expertise, application, innovation and hard work.

1980-1983
Whilst the evolution of moving to the present location in Dalton with the first production line in 1980, and changing to a limited Company in 1983, were important foundations, the really significant developments, have taken place since then.

1988
In 1988 we became a public Company, the name was changed to Severfield-Reeve Plc, and became listed on the USM.
This move would facilitate more flexibility in funding the business development programme in the years ahead.

1990
Following the installation of a second production line, a major technical innovation saw the introduction of the revolutionary floor-mounted handling system in 1990, enabling output to increase dramatically in volume and efficiency.
We also increased our own erection side of the business by taking over an established steelwork erection company, further expansion to the existing pattern of substantial organic growth.
The rapid expansion of the business created the need for a restructuring in order to operate more effectively. This was accomplished by the Plc creating a number of subsidiary operating Companies, each with its own management board.

1993-1995
The Company's progress continued unabated.
Its first international contract was obtained in 1993, and 1995 saw the Company moved up from the USM to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange.

1996-1997
1996 saw the first major acquisition, taking over the business and assets of J N Rowen Ltd of Nottingham, a long established Company operating in areas complementary to those of the existing business.
Rowen's experience of more complex types of steelwork, coupled with the 'muscle' of Severfield-Reeve, provides a flexible and formidable proposition.
Severfield-Reeve also continued its expansion at Dalton, with the addition of its third and fourth production lines in successive years, 1996 and 1997.

1999
In 1999, the Group Company's name was changed to Severfield-Rowen Plc reflecting the acquisition of Rowen Structures.

2000
A fifth production line was added to the Dalton Facility in 2000.

2001-2003
The impressive growth continued as 2001 saw major expansion of the Group with the addition of a plated section processing line at Dalton following the creation of Fabsec Ltd., a joint venture with industry partners.
Fabsec offers beams with bespoke web openings, optimally designed for structural and mechanical efficiency, with the added value of a pleasing architectural appearance.

This was followed by the acquisition of Watson Steel Structures of Bolton from Amec, a company of international repute in structural steelwork, with a special expertise and experience of bridges, stadiums and tubular work - all areas with high engineering content.

Production Lines 7 and 8 followed at the Dalton site in 2001 and 2003 respectively, to provide custom-built facilities for the environmentally controlled application of intumescent fire protection paint.

2005
In 2005 the Group acquired Atlas Ward Structures Ltd., a company with another well-known brand, bringing with it an experienced workforce and a complementary end market and client base.

2006
June 2006 saw further expansion to the Dalton site, with the addition of lines 9 and 10.
Line 9 is the Group's third fully equipped intumescent fire protection application line, whilst Line 10 is a valuable addition to the fabrication facility, being responsible for the production of small fabrication items as well as the Group's "Off-Load Safe" system.

2007
2007 saw the acquisition of Fisher Engineering Ltd, a major construction steel fabricator based in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
The Fisher acquisition extends Severfield-Rowen’s leading market position in the UK and gives a stronger presence in the growing Irish steel fabrication market.

Severfield-Rowen Plc is committed to further investments in the development of plant and machinery.
The Group provides the most complete service in the UK structural steel industry, and looks to a successful future.
